U-32 Orchestra to Host Benefit Concert for Homeless Youth
The U-32 High School String Orchestra will be performing alongside musicians Adam Ezra and Soundcheck at the Haybarn Theater at Goddard College on June 21. This year the students and musicians are partnering with Capstone Community Action to give money to programs assisting homeless youth in Central Vermont. The money will be going directly to homeless youth in central Vermont to help them acquire bus passes and birth certificates/other forms of ID.
The class is very excited to help give back to the community and to be able to do it through music.
Violinist Waylon Kurts says "I am honored to be planning the event because it is addressing a problem in our society that gets pushed to the bottom of our priorities". "I am proud to be able to help my disadvantaged peers so they can have the platform and community that all of us use to grow and find our place in the world", says pianist Esther Macke.

"It's difficult to impart the roots-steeped, road-trippin' essence of the Adam Ezra Group into a single word, but frontman Adam Ezra nonetheless keeps one in mind as something of a mantra: COMMUNITY. To the musicians at the heart of AEG, community is epitomized by a belief they all share, one that has long doubled as a mission statement for the group: namely, that making music together is itself a form of grassroots organizing, capable of nothing less than changing the world."
About U-32 Orchestra
A class offered at U-32 High school, the orchestra program is a group of student musicians that branches out to connect with the community through the preparation and performance of music. In a special annual concert, the orchestra does a collaboration with a professional group to benefit an organization that is working to fix an issue in our society and world community. In the 2017-18 school year, the orchestra partnered with the Chad Hollister band to benefit families in need as a result of hurricane Maria.
