Arbor Day Tree Planting at Macrae Farm Park

Past event
May 3, 2019, 9 AM to 4 PM

Celebrate Vermont Arbor Day by helping to plant 480 native trees along the Winooski River at Macrae Farm Park in Colchester with the Winooski Conservation District and Winooski Valley Parks District. Planting trees along streams helps to stabilize stream banks, give rivers access to their floodplains, cool water temperatures and provide habitat for wildlife. Volunteers are needed for morning (9-noon) and afternoon (12-4) shifts. Tasks will include hauling 40lb bags of trees, digging holes, planting trees, watering and weeding. Participants are encouraged to wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and sturdy work boots or rain boots. Please bring your own work gloves and a water bottle.
