Village Harmony Concert-Tinmouth Community Church Thursday April 18 at 7:30

After a decade, Village Harmony has renewed its fall-through-spring Year Group ensemble. At Tinmouth Community Church on Thursday, April 18th at 7:30, a dozen brilliant teen singers from Vermont and Massachusetts will share a wonderful collection of traditional and contemporary tunes from the Republic of Georgia, Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, the United States, and South Africa. The songs center around themes of cultural identity, struggle and perseverance. Suggested admission at the door is on a sliding scale of $5 to $15, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Doors open at 7:00.

Year Group tour is led by Avery Book and Rachel Rudi, both Village and Northern Harmony alumni raised and working in Vermont. The two of them brought back Year Group with Heidi Wilson, who was unable to tour.

For decades, Village Harmony has nurtured countless voices by inviting singers to learn and honor compelling, resonant genres from around the world, study a remarkable variety of vocal styles and timbres, and engage in vibrant community. Village Harmony, a non-profit, umbrella organization based in Vermont, promotes the study and performance of singing traditions from around the world. For over twenty years, they have organized teen ensembles each summer in New England and ensembles for mixed-age and adult singers in numerous countries.
