Do you have an interest in mountaineering and polar exploration? Would you like to explore, through reading, the wide range of literature dealing with mountaineering experiences, expeditions, and opinions from throughout the past century? Over the past five years since this group started, we have discussed selections as varied as Herzog's "Annapurna", Davis' "Into the Silence", Whittaker's "Memoirs of a Mountain Guide", Admiral Byrd's "Alone", and Geiger's "The Third Man Factor". Our usual monthly meeting is on the third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Carpenter-Carse Library in Hinesburg. The selection for Tuesday, April 16th is Eric Newby's "A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush". Come join us for a very informal evening; reading the book beforehand is helpful but not a requirement, and reservations are unnecessary. We would welcome your company!
