HELLO COMMUNITY MEMBERS!
My name is Lucy, and I am a 16-year-old from the South End of Burlington. I am a Peer Educator from BHS as well, and I have a message for you!
Are you curious about how to engage in healthy conversations with your teen? Or are you a teen yourself and you want to have better communication with your parents? Or do you just want to learn about safer sex and healthy sexual lifestyles and how sex is talked about around the world?
BHS Planned Parenthood Peer Educators are hosting a movie night, featuring the film, Let's Talk About Sex. During this, there will be FREE food, discussions and trained peer educators to answer any questions.
WHERE: Burlington High School Library
WHEN: Wednesday, 3/27, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
WHAT: An educational fun movie about healthy sexual lifestyles!
WHY: To educate and open up a dialogue about a subject that is often taboo
SYNOPSIS:
LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX takes a revealing look at how American attitudes towards adolescent sexuality affect today's teenagers. We live in a society that uses sex to sell everything from lipstick to laptops. Yet fear and silence around sex and sexuality also permeate our culture. Teens are paying a terrible price for this confusion in unintended pregnancy, STDs, and even HIV. And American taxpayers are paying billions to treat these entirely preventable problems.
The Peer Educators hope from this to educate and open up a conversation that may not be discussed otherwise. This is an educational and (hopefully!) fun experience. This same event took place at South Burlington High School and was a successful and learning experience, and we want to open the doors in Burlington to have another great time!

The Peer Educators of Planned Parenthood is a volunteer-based group that seeks to be a resource for youth in Burlington and all around the country in all things regarding sexual health. We are mandated reporters as well, and have been doing work for over 5 years!
