Sunday: February 10, 2019 -- In response to the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in October 2018, which was preceded by hateful message about Jews and HIAS, 13 places of worship, clergy groups, and civic entities are sponsoring a special interfaith public forum in Shushan New York on Sunday February 10 at 2 pm at the United Presbyterian Church of Shushan. The program is entitled "Welcoming the Stranger." Speaking at the forum will be Maxine Stein, the Executive Director and CEO of Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts, a HIAS affiliate organization. She will present an overview of the current refugee situation and will share the history of HIAS and its role in refugee resettlement in the United States and around the world. There will be a time for questions and, afterwards, for light refreshments. All are welcome to attend this important event.
