People's State of the Union Story Circle

Past event
Feb 2, 2019, 4 to 5:30 PM

Where: Maple Corner Community Center

When: Saturday, February 2nd from 4 to 5:30pm (Standard Baby Time- I have a 2 month old.)

Who's Invited: Everyone!

About: Between January 25-February 3, 2019, individuals and organizations across the U.S. will sign up to host Story Circles as part of The People's State of the Union. Most years, the President delivers a State of the Union Address highlighting the past year and priorities for the coming year. In a year that's seen more polarizing slogans and soundbites, more demonstrations and heated debates than ever, looking each other in the eye and sharing our stories matters even more than usual. In such moments, being able to cross political divides and remain in dialogue is a worthy challenge. Who are we? What touches our hearts and minds? What do our communities need, and what do they need to hear from us? We may know our own answers, but do we know each other?

Join us for our local People's State of the Union Story Circle! This is a powerful way of coming together, getting to know one another, and reflecting on the state of our community, country, and world. No need to prepare anything. Just show up and be yourself!

Awesome?! But, WAIT. Wait. wait. What's a story circle? A story circle is a small group of individuals sitting in a circle, sharing stories—usually from their
own experience or imagination—focusing on a common theme. Everyone will have three minutes to share. After everyone has shared, we will have a short discussion.

RSVP: Please email Kayla at kaylanewman@gmail.com to RSVP. Even if you think that you might be able to join us, please send me an email.
