Join Us - Seeking Input on a Kid-Friendly Montpelier

Past event
Jan 9, 2019, 3:30 to 4:30 PM

How do we make our community as kid-friendly as possible?

Please join a conversation to frame a collective community vision of Montpelier's after school programming, and to establish the steps needed to get us there. Two meetings will be held:

Wednesday, January 9 at 3:30 PM, in the Hayes Room at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library

Monday, Jan. 14 at 6:00 PM in the East Montpelier Room, in the Kellogg-Hubbard Library basement

These community meetings will dive into the question of "What does great after school programming look like?" The meetings will be focused on community assets, where we want to go in the next 6 months, where we want to be in the next 3 years, and how you can help the community get there.

We will brainstorm ideas for strengthening after school programming in Montpelier in a broad and coordinated way that fits children with diverse interests and desires, while at the same time serving the critical functions of capacity, transportation, and time.

This meeting was initiated before the recent announcement by the superintendent of schools regarding the contract for after school programming, without any knowledge that the announcement was coming. While it is inevitable that these conversations will intersect in some way with the deliberations that the school district is undertaking, there is no formal connection.

We hope to see you on either Wednesday or the following Monday. Children and youth are welcome and encouraged to attend. We will have additional opportunities for children and youth input as well.
