Greetings and Happy New Year!
It's that time of year! The Annual Colchester Winter Carnival is less than a month away! This year, the annual Chili Challenge will benefit the Josh Pallotta Fund, Inc.
For those of you who don't know, Josh was a graduate of Colchester High School and a member of the Vermont National Guard. Josh deployed in 2010 as part of the Guard's deployment to Afghanistan. In 2014, Josh lost his battle with PTSD and ended his life. After his death, due to a generous outpouring of support, the Josh Pallotta Fund, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, dedicated to assisting Veterans and Service Members was chartered. The organization was created by a group of Veterans, family and community members in memory of Josh. At the Josh Pallotta Fund, we hope to combine local and national resources, emergency services, and research to provide Veterans the resiliency, transition and reintegration tools to help them sustain or return to full and healthy lives. The Josh Pallotta Fund will be used to develop Josh's House VT, a wellness recreation center for Veterans.
Registration forms for the Chili Challenge are due by January 25th, along with your list of ingredients (for allergy purposes; full recipe not necessary).We ask that you bring your warm chili in a crockpot with a ladle to Colchester High School by 10:00 a.m. on February 2nd. Judging will begin at 10:30. Winners will be announced immediately after judging and prizes and trophies will be presented! Once winners are announced the chili will be available for purchase. If you are not interested in entering the challenge, please consider stopping by for a bowl of chili!
