New Guilford Cares Seniors Walk Oct. 17

Past event
Oct 17, 2018

On Wednesday, October 17 at 10:30 a.m. we will embark on a "tour of trees" along the West River Trail in Brattleboro (near the Marina Restaurant) with our guide, Mark Mikolas. Mark is the author of A Beginners Guide to Identifying Trees of the Northeast. He will help us observe some of the characteristics of trees that make them easily recognizable, using techniques explained in his book.

The trail is flat. We will walk at a leisurely pace, stopping frequently to identify trees. We will turn around at the I91 overpass, after we have enjoyed the spectacular view of the new bridge from underneath and the beautiful patio which overlooks the river.

Directions to the West River Trailhead near the Marina Restaurant in Brattleboro:
Turn off Putney Road into the rear restaurant parking lot. At the river, take a right onto the dirt road that runs along the river. In approximately ½ mile there will be a cornfield and a big clearing on the right with an industrial building on it. We'll park and gather there.

For questions and carpooling from Guilford, call Leah at Guilford Cares 579-1350 or gcares@comcast.net.
