Dear Middlesex Community Members,

On Wednesday, September 26th we have a Superviosory Union Board Meeting and lRumney School Board meeting to discuss among other issues Act 46, the School Merger law. At this point WCSU's proposal for an alternative governance structure is before the State Board of Educatiuon for its review and consideration. The Agency of Education has already recommended forced merger, which the town boards of WCSU, including Middlesex, have opposed. We have jointly submitted an alternative governance proposal. If the State Board either accept the alternative governance proposal or compel merger. Some towns in the same situation we are in are considering a legal challenge to any decision by the State Board compelling merger. Whether to join such litigation is on the agenda for both the Supervisory Union as a whole and the Rumney Board individually. This is a significantly important question for our town and school.
