In collaboration with von Trapp Farmstead and Babette's Table, Mad River Food Hub is hosting the first of a series of Meat and Mingle butchery demonstrations and tastings at the Mad River Taste Place. This will be a great opportunity to get to know the farmers and makers who are creating excellent locally raised pork and charcuterie right here in the Mad River Valley, and a great night out celebrating local food.
Starting at 6:00pm on Friday 21st September, the event will feature discussion of sustainable farming practices, demonstration of artisanal butchery, and tasting of hand-made charcuterie products. Bill Cavanaugh of Mad River Food Hub, Erika Lynch of Babette's Table, and Emily Virzi from von Trapp Farmstead will be on hand to "meat" and mingle while demonstrating their crafts and answering questions.
The event is free with a suggested $20 donation to benefit Vermont Fresh Network's Conference Program which focuses connecting Vermonters with out of state food conferences and events. Vermont Fresh Network is a champion of the Vermont food and farm economy that fosters relationships between farmers, chefs, and consumers to advance the aim of increasing local food consumption. There will also be a cash bar put on by the Mad River Taste Place with local craft beer and wine.
