Coming up Thursday on Goddard College Community Radio - will high level nuclear waste soon be traveling our roads and rails, with no final destination planned? And what it's like to "parachute in" to countries in the global south and work for some months or years to help them address climate change issues.
9:00 - 10:00 am
Chris Williams is the Vermont organizer for the Citizens Awareness Network and a member of the Vermont Yankee Decommissioning Alliance. He'll be part of a group in Montpelier next Tuesday, September 22, to talk about proposals to take spent fuel from nuclear plants around the country to what he calls big parking lots—to await an answer to the unsolved puzzle of how to safely store the waste for tens of thousands of years. And we'll talk about ways to use science to find sensible policy solutions—and why that seems to be so hard.
