Please join me for Zoe's Race and celebrate our 10th anniversary with a new 10K run option in addition to the 5K walk/run! Also, new this year is FREE 1K run registration for kids 17 and under!

The first Howard Center Zoe's Race was held on August 30, 2009. The idea for the 5K race was sparked when I began a remodeling project to make her home accessible for my daughter Zoe. Zoe, who is now 15 years old, is in a wheelchair as a result of a near drowning accident when she was 18 months old. During this process I was surprised to learn that there were no funds available to assist families with remodeling costs related to accessibility. I was fortunate enough to be able to remodel our home to make it comfortable and accessible for Zoe, her brothers and her caretakers but worried about other families that may not be so fortunate. I teamed up with Howard Center and Zoe's Race was born.

Howard Center's Zoe's Race is a 1K fun run and 5K walk/run, and new this year an anniversary 10K option, designed to raise funds for Vermont families who are in need of creating accessible homes for their children. In its first year, the race had incredible community support and raised over $13,000. To date, Zoe's Race has raised over $200,000 and has helped 20 local families make their homes accessible.

The tenth annual Zoe's Race will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Oakledge Park in Burlington, Vermont. Join us as we continue to make a difference assisting local families with their accessibility needs.
