To sign up please go to: http://bit.ly/BigBarnTours The Barn House is actually two historic buildings: a granary and a cow barn, both built sometime between the late 1700's and the early 1800's. Jackson Clemmons joined the two buildings together more than 20 years ago when he was in his 70's.
A work of art itself, the Barn House is also home to the official "A Place for All People" poster series of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture with 20 posters showcasing images and information about some of the beautiful art and culture pieces on exhibit in the Museum, a superb collection of African art and antiquities from Jack and Lydia's travels in Africa including a selection of West African textiles, Clemmons family photographs and storytelling over the generations, the "For the Love of Old Barns" multi-media exhibit (photographs, posters and videos), the "POC- Power of Color" photography exhibit by multicultural young people from Hardwick, Vermont, and creative works by Charlotte environmental artist Nancy Winship Milliken.
