My neighbor, SCS 7th grader Elise Berger always knew women's softball wasn't going to cut it for her. She's been pitching all-star boys baseball for years now and is part of a nationally ranked all girls baseball team "The Boston Slammers". The Slammers just made it to the semi-finals in the Mayors Cup in Boston (composed of 17 boys all-star teams and their ONE all girls team). In the last semi-final game, Elise pitched the first ever no-hitter in Mayors Cup history!

I'm not bragging about her just for fun – I want the community to know that the Boston Slammers are coming to Shelburne for a double header tomorrow (Sunday, 7/29) against an all girls team from Quebec. The Quebec team is bringing at least 40-50 fans with them and our community needs to rally with a cheering section of our own. This double header starts at the South Town Field and games are at 11 and 1:30. The snack shack will be open so you can have lunch and support girls baseball.

This will be some great baseball! Whether you are trying to encourage your young girl to think big with any endeavor, or you want to see young women play baseball at a national level, please come. This is your chance to support young women in sports and show both boys and girls that high level play is achievable with the kind of grit and determination that Elise has.
