What -- walk around in a sewage treatment plant for FUN? Yes! Friday, August 3 is Water Quality Day, and Montpelier's Wastewater Treatment Plant, at 949 Dog River Road, will be hosting public tours at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. It's free, snacks will be provided, and Water Quality Day hats given to visitors. If you haven't yet seen the scope of the effort -- the huge equipment, the high-tech, the complex challenges, the dedicated people -- that's required to deal with your every flush, it's really an eye-opening experience. It's fun and informative for people of all ages, and, though it's a serious subject, there's plenty of opportunity for humor.
