Will Wootton, former president of Sterling College, will speak at the Greensboro Summer Lecture Series, WED., JULY 11, 7:30 in Fellowship Hall, Greensboro United Church of Christ. Wootton will discuss and read from his book, GOOD FORTUNE NEXT TIME; LIFE, DEATH, IRONY, AND THE ADMINISTRATION OF VERY SMALL COLLEGES. In the Chronicle, Tena Starr wrote, "Wootton's frank, conversational style is much like that of a good journalist — though a journalist unleashed from objectivity . . . . He's not inclined to mince words, or gloss over a harsh truth, with euphemism." And in The Hardwick Gazette, June Pichel Cook wrote: "The book's structure flows along like the brooks and streams he loves to fish, at times tumbling headlong into rocks, at times quietly pooling into deep eddies, at times rushing with furious momentum, at times gliding across smooth rounded pebbles. His voice explores seamlessly, candidly, what is external and transpiring in a board room, while internalizing the complexities, quandaries, doubts pulsating beneath the cordial air."
