Transition Town Charlotte and our Hinesburg friends will be hosting our second Repair Cafe from 10:00 to 4:00 on Sat May 19 at the Hinesburg Town Hall. Outside owners are also welcome.
If you want to have something fixed at the Repair Cafe on Saturday, please let me know by clicking here https://goo.gl/forms/RrXbwbzUNaLBHUUA2 . If you haven't registered and its Saturday you can still bring your items over and we will do our best to accommodate your repairs. If possible we ask that attendees arrive before noon so we can have plenty of time before 4:00 to fix your item.
You are probably asking but what is a Repair Cafe? A Repair Cafe is a community gathering where we come together to share our skills at no charge and fix each others broken stuff...
We have fixers volunteering to tackle the following items:
-small electric appliances, lamps, electrical gadgets
-wooden furniture
-toys
-wood, metal and plastic
-tools
- home, shop and garden,(sharpening, troubleshooting, handle and cord replacement)
-attaching Watch Bands, replacing Watch Batteries, Cuckoo and other clocks
-clothing, knitted items, sewing machine adjustments
-on the spot lessons on knitting, crochet and embroidery
-consultation on cooking and preserving foods.
-textile conservation and repair (vintage clothes, dolls, cross-stitches, quilts, lace)
-jewelry repairs and mods
-tutorials on smart phone usage
-computer/tech help, computer upgrades, and phone screen replacements
-small gas engine tuneups and tutorials!
-got something not listed? Challenge us!
There is no charge for repairs but we do ask participants to make a non-perishable food or monetary donation on repair day to the Hinesburg Food Shelf. Coffee/tea and snacks will be available by donation and a lunch can be purchased. The event is being sponsored by Transition Town Charlotte, the Charlotte Community Library, and Charlotte Grange.
