Dear Neighbors,
This Monday, the City Council will convene its first of two meetings for the month of May. We will begin our evening at 7pm with a Local Control Commission meeting. We have several license renewals in addition to two new licenses for LaBoca Pizzeria and Chuck Size Enterprises doing business as Taco Gordo on North Winooski Avenue. Both businesses are requesting a first class liquor license and an outdoor consumption permit.
We will continue our City Council meeting immediately after the Local Control Commission meeting. We have 5 items on our deliberative agenda. The first two are an indoor and outdoor entertainment permits for LaBoca Pizzeria.
The third is the second reading of several changes to our City's ordinances regarding quality of life concerns. The changes proposed include modifications to our ordinances regarding public urination and defecation as well as open beverage containers. As this is a second reading of these proposed changes will be voted on by the Council Monday evening.
The fourth item is a resolution to refer to the Charter Change Committee concerning City funding of capital improvements for the Church Street Marketplace. This resolution is being brought to the Council at the request of the Marketplace Commission. The Charter Change Committee would be reviewing the current language in our ordinances regarding capital improvements for the Marketplace and proposing any changes in a report back to the Council in mid-August.
Our last item is the appointment and approval of the Mural Task Force Committee members. The recommendation is to appoint Patrick Brown, Terri Melincoff, Jen Berger, Thomas Carroll, Gary De Carolis, Brian Sullivan, and Weiwei Wang as members.
Prior to an Executive Session for the Council to receive an update on bargaining, we will convene a City Council meeting with the Mayor Presiding. The sole item on the agenda is a resolution granting renewal of a hardship extension to School Superintendent Yaw Obeng so he may continue the exemption he received in 2015.
We will also convene a brief Board of Civil Authority meeting to consider a request for abatement of taxes.
