Art and Activism

Past event

There are two really exciting events this weekend that I want to make sure you all know about:

Friday evening Amir Sulaiman will be performing his slam poetry as part of a larger event that the Young Writer's Project and others are hosting at Contois Auditorium. More info on that here: https://youngwritersproject.org/node/22069

And on Saturday at the ONE Community Center the Peace & Justice, Center is hosting the Vermont Peace Conference. The keynote speaker is Beata Tsosie-Peña from Tewa Women United in New Mexico. She is a peace activist who came to her work growing up on the Santa Clara Pueblo next to a nuclear weapons complex. She is also a performance poet. She'll be sharing her poetry during her morning talk and during the closing. AND she'll be featured during the Young Writers Project event on Friday!

More info on the conference is here: http://www.pjcvt.org/vt-peace-conference-2018/

It's really unusual and serendipitous that there are two out of state inspiring slam poets in Vermont mobilizing our local communities at the same time. I hope you can come check them out along with all the amazing local artist/activists who will be featured as well.
