This year's tour features an exciting and eclectic mix of Burlington's historic properties. Tour goers will have a unique opportunity to see the recently completed penthouse or "cupola unit" of Liberty House, formerly St. Joseph's Orphanage. Liberty House affords spectacular views of Lake Champlain from the rooftop deck, and several other areas of the newly renovated structure will be shown. This year's tour also includes two homes recently featured in The Old House Journal and Vermont Magazine. The first, an immaculately restored turn-of-the-twentieth-century brick American Foursquare on Henry Street; and the second, a brightly decorated "kit house" cottage on Gove Court. The tour, which consists of six historic properties, finely decorated interiors, and inspiring landscapes and gardens, is self-guided with the help of numerous volunteers from the community. Light refreshments will be served.
The Homes Tour is Preservation Burlington's biggest annual fundraising event. Proceeds go towards the organization's many other educational programs. Tickets are available at the Flynn Center Box Office (www.flynntix.org) for $20. For more information, go to: www.preservationburlington.org; info@preservationburlington.org
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are also looking for volunteers to help on the tour. Volunteers will work half of the tour and be allowed to view the homes for the other half.
