Scrag Mountain Music presents a concert entitled "Trapeze," featuring co-Artistic Directors Evan Premo (bass/composer), Mary Bonhag (soprano), and guest artists on Saturday, May 19 at 7:30 pm at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier (130 Main Street, Montpelier, VT). Admission is "Come as you are. Pay what you can." The concert features an eclectic line-up of fun and athletically virtuosic music selections mirroring the awe-inspiring acts one would find at the circus. The program, titled "Trapeze," was inspired by Sergei Prokofiev's Quintet in G minor, Op. 39 "Trapeze" for Oboe, Clarinet, Violin, Viola, and Double Bass written in 1924 for a ballet inspired by the players at the circus. To compliment the Prokofiev, the program also includes Georges Aperghis' "280 Measures for solo clarinet;" Samuel Barber's Opus 25 "Nuvoletta" with words by James Joyce from Finnegans Wake; Luciano Berio's Sequenza III for voice; Iva Bittová's Hoboj and Divná slečinka for viola and oboe; and Evan Premo's own Lullaby and Polska for violin and viola.

Beyond the musical notes, each concert will give a nod to the circus with other various festive enhancements. For more information visit: http://www.scragmountainmusic.org/trapeze.html
