Designing an Herb Garden

Past event
May 22, 2018, 6:30 to 8 PM

Now, is a perfect time for designing your own herb garden. Whether you use herbs for culinary flavoring, non-emergent medicinals or even crafts, herbs are easy to grow and right at your fingertips when you need them. The Waterbury Library welcomes back Cathy Dodge, herbalist, teacher and founder of The Healing Leaves Center in Williston. Designing an Herb Garden begins with the basics and provides a firm foundation.

Do you know your soil composition- clay, sand, or the best-- loam? Where will your site be located? Is it sunny or shady? What plants do you want? Are they right for your site? What is your lifestyle like? That is an important consideration. The class will also address cultivation and finally harvesting.

You can plan elaborately or very simply. Come with a design in mind. It could be a simple raised bed or the garden may be part of a bigger picture. If you have a specific location, come with the dimensions. Along with the info provided, there will be time for graphing out your ideas. Go home with both a plan and some sample herbs to try out.

Tuesday evening, May 22nd from 6:30-8pm in the SAL room. Call 244-7036 to pre-register. $5.00 material fee. Tea and refreshments.
