Green Up Day is Always the First Saturday in May!

GREEN UP DAY is this Saturday, May 5th!

The first Green Up Day was launched by Governor Deane Davis in 1970. Since that time, thousands of Vermonters of all ages and walks of life have come together on the first Saturday in May to clean up their communities by picking up litter from roadsides, waterways, woods and public areas. This is just a very small history of Green Up Day in case you are new to the area, have never heard of it, or have but just never participated.

We look forward to seeing you all again this year, with hopefully some new faces and helping hands! Please come over to the New Haven Town Green between 9am and 11am on Saturday May 5th to pick up FREE Green Up Bags and gloves and to register on the Town Road Map for a road or area to Green Up!

Our Road Crew will be out picking up Green Up Bags from every road to take to the Transfer Station on Monday, May 7th. Please make sure to leave the bags where you left off, tied shut and placed just off the side of the road. Just to clarify, NO furniture will be accepted as "Green Up" waste. If you "haul it out of the woods," you must dispose of it yourself. Likewise, only waste in a bright green "Green Up" bag will be accepted as Green Up waste.
Please do not try to haul big or dangerous pieces out to the road. Please contact me to report the location, or to report dumping sites, hazardous waste dump sites, animal carcasses, needles, or potential portable meth labs so I can contact the proper authorities.

The Health Department have asked us to remind you that Ticks are out, and it's going to be another bad season. Please check to make sure you are tick-free after Greening Up!

I hope to see you on the Town Green between 9am & 11am on Saturday May 5. It's so nice to see more people involved each passing year, and we really appreciate your time and assistance in this State Wide clean up effort!
THANK YOU New Haven residents for doing your part to Keep Vermont Clean and Green!
If you would like bags a little early, please give me a call to arrange it.
