8 AM, Disc Golf Tournament, Hope Davey Park, Disc Golf Course. The 8th Annual Ice Bucket benefiting our local food shelf! Come play or watch one of the fastest growing games in the country! More Information at the Green Mountain Disc Golf Club's site.
10 AM – 12 Noon, Historic Snow Shoe Tour, Little River St. Park. Enjoy a two hour guided snowshoe walk through CCC Camp Charles M. Smith in Little River State Park. The mile long trail through the camp is relatively level and easy for all levels of snowshoers. The camp housed the CCC boys who built the Waterbury dam. Need snowshoes? Borrow a pair for FREE from CC Outdoor Store; call 244-4000 to reserve a pair.
10 AM – 2 PM, Telemark Figure 8 Competition. Intermediate and expert skiers are invited to explore the unique terrain at the Country Club of Vermont and challenge the Telemark figure 8 contest! Show your prowess with perfectly shaped figure-eight tracks.
11 AM, Puppet Show The Tiny Acorn. Watch the celebrated puppets of the Tiny Acorn Toy Store enact the children's book, the "Mitten."
1 PM – 3 PM, Cross Country Ski Tour, Country Club of Vermont. Enjoy views of Hunger Mountain while touring parts of the Country Club of Vermont and Waterbury Recreation Path. This will be a moderately paced ski on rolling terrain and led by local skiing enthusiasts. Skiers should have some experience, be comfortable skiing un-groomed snow, and be able to control their speed going downhill. Meet in the parking lot of the CCVT.
10 AM – 4 PM, Sledding Party, Country Club of VT. Bring your sleds, warm clothing and get ready for a thrilling day on the hill! Free cookie decorating station (while supplies last), and hot chocolate served fireside in the cozy confines of the Country Club of Vermont clubhouse.
6 PM – 8 PM, Boys Varsity Hockey vs. Peoples, Ice Center. For the final Varsity Hockey games, the Harwood boys will play host to long time rival Peoples Academy.
7:30 PM – 11 PM, Winterfest Dance & Silent Auction, Country Club of VT. Featuring Waterbury's own 'Still Kickin' band, complimentary appetizers, cash bar, and many, many wonderful Silent Auction items from our generous local sponsors. Limited tickets are available and all proceeds to benefit Waterbury Recreation. $20 per person or $30 per couple.
