A weekly film series featuring traditional 16mm film projection on Friday evenings at the Lawrence Memorial Library. New title announced every Saturday!
Our March 23rd film is Frank Capra's original screwball comedy "It Happened One Night", starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. This was the first film to perform a "clean sweep" of the top five Academy Award categories, known as the Oscar "grand slam": Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay.
Synopsis:
"Oscar winner about a runaway heiress on the lam from her father, and the reporter on her trail. As they travel northward and engage in a series of misadventures, the gruff newspaperman and the spoiled young lady begin to fall for each other."
This film series is made possible by the generosity of Tom & Jenny Telling, Nancy Wilson, Bristol Recreation Department, Carol Wells, and Stewart Lane at Middlebury College Media Services.
