Celebrated Vermont photographer Peter Miller will discuss his newest book, "Vanishing Vermonters: Loss of a Rural Culture", in an illustrated talk at the Manchester Community Library. The author/ photographer of several iconic books about the state of Vermont, Miller recorded 23 Vermonters discussing how they cope with a vanishing way of life, for his most recent work.
Miller's photographs have appeared in Sports Illustrated, Smithsonian, New York Times Sunday Magazine, Ski, Snow Country, Field and Stream, Travel & Leisure, and many other stateside and foreign publications.
In 1994, Miller was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Journalism from the International Skiing History Association. In 2006, he was named Vermonter of the Year by the Burlington Free Press and has been honored with a proclamation from the Vermont House of Representatives.
The event is free and open to the public. A reception and book signing will follow Peter Miller's talk. An exhibit of Miller's photographs will grace the walls of the Library's Upper Gallery from March 19- April 4.
