The League of Women Voters of Vermont hosts its annual spring lecture and lunch at noon on March 17, 2018 in the Ethan Allen Room, Capitol Plaza, 100 State Street, Montpelier. Veteran journalists Naomi Schalit and John Christie will discuss "The Integrity of Journalism: How to be a Critical Thinking News Consumer." They will examine the vital connection between journalism and democracy and provide an inside look into investigative journalism.

Schalit and Christie founded the non-profit Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting (MCPIR) in 2009 because of concern with the decline of and need for investigative reporting. Their reporting has resulted in significant changes to state law and policy. Both are experienced and distinguished
journalists having garnered national awards and state honors for their work.

The League invites you to a spirited discussion on journalistic objectivity, online news sources, and savvy news consumerism. Tickets are $5 and include a buffet lunch. Register online at https://tinyurl.com/LWVVT-Spring2018 or make checks payable to LWVVT and mail to P.O. Box 1391, Montpelier, VT 05602. Contact Sonja Schuyler, (802) 899-3657 or lwvofvt@gmail.com with questions. We look forward to seeing you there!
