Shambhala Meditation Center: Training Level IV Weekend

Past event
Apr 20, 7 PM to 1 PM, Apr 22, 2018

Prerequisite: Shambhala Training Level III: Warrior in the World

“Basic goodness is very closely connected to the idea of bodhicitta in the Buddhist tradition. Bodhi means ‘awake’ or ‘wakeful’ and cittameans ‘heart,’ so bodhicitta is ‘awakened heart.’ Such awakened heart comes from being willing to face your state of mind. That may seem like a great demand, but it is necessary. The sitting practice of meditation is the means to rediscover basic goodness, and beyond that, it is the means to awaken this genuine heart within yourself.”

— Chögyam Trungpa

In Level IV the boundaries between “us in here” and the “world out there” become more permeable. Our natural curiosity takes us deeper as our hearts open and we learn to let more of the world in, allowing ourselves to be touched without closing down out of fear. And we start to see that who we are and what the world is are not as separate as we might have assumed. We begin to discover our inherent confidence, patience, and generosity.
