Register now a few spaces remain! This Sunday 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Balance Yoga 840 W Main in Richmond (just 1 min from the Richmond Exit) - Register at http://balanceyogavt.com/workshops-series/
Lynn welcomes you to relax and find peace and healing as she immerses you in the sounds of 3 gongs, koshi chimes, and a Vermont 'Bliss' Singing Drum. Participants will be resting on the floor as in svasana with any props required for comfort (bolsters under the knees, blankets for added warmth or padding, and eye pillows), they will then be guided through a systematic relaxation and then immersed in sounds and vibration as the gongs, chimes, and singing drum are played. The session will end with tea to ground and warm participants for safe travels.
Sound vibration is very healing. Vibration and sounds, especially the complex overtones found in gongs, have the ability to quiet the mind and induce a deep meditative state. This, in turn, soothes the spirit and promotes self-healing. Typical responses are release of anxiety and stress, increased mental clarity, a sense of calm and peace, emotional release, a feeling of balance, and a deepening of personal spiritual connection.
Cost is $20
Space is limited, Pre-registration required (12 maximum).
Sound therapy is increasingly recognized in integrative medicine as noted in this quote from Dr Mitchell Gaynor, who served as the Director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York and wrote The Healing Power of Sound. “If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiological functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.”
