Potluck Dinner and Conversations on Climate Change Thurs. Jan. 16

Past event
Jan 16, 2014, 6:30 PM

Want to share some good food and talking about climate change?   Bill McKibben and the folks at 350.org put together a thought provoking video on Climate Change and why to do something now called "Do The Math".  We'll  eat (hopefully get to know some new folks), watch video, and then have a conversation.
WHERE:  880 Barstow Road, Shelburne
WHEN:  Thursday, January 16th
    6:30pm Potluck Dinner
7:30pm Do The Math Tour Showing (~45 minutes)
BRING:  Dish to Share

About the movie:
It’s simple math: we can emit 565 more gigatons of carbon dioxide and stay below 2°C of warming — anything more than that risks catastrophe for life on earth. The only problem? Burning the fossil fuel that corporations now have in their reserves would result in emitting 2,795 gigatons of carbon dioxide – five times the safe amount.

If we want to continue the conversation after the 16th ... potentially we could be the infancy of an article group that got together periodically to discuss an article on climate change, how to address, and other issues.

Please let me know if you're interested, so I have an idea of how many folks will be here.  Look forward to dinner and conversation.
