As part of The Neighborhood Project (TNP), the City, in collaboration with its partners, the University of Vermont (UVM), Champlain College and Preservation Burlington, invites the Burlington community to an Interactive Community Open House on December 12th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Contois Auditorium, City Hall. TNP is one of 22 proposals in Burlington’s Housing Action Plan (HAP), adopted by the City Council in October 2015. The overarching goal of TNP is to develop an actionable strategy and toolkit of policies and programs for neighborhood stabilization in near-campus neighborhoods.

The HAP called for hiring housing, planning, historic preservation and real estate professionals to create the actionable strategy and toolkit of policies and programs. Last August, Ninigret Partners, a Rhode-island based consulting team was hired to guide this effort. Since then, the consulting team has conducted more than 50 interviews with stakeholders and undertaken neighborhood tours led by residents most familiar with the housing concerns and quality-of-life issues. The consulting team has also been analyzing neighborhood trends, reviewing and evaluating existing programs, policies and other tools and researching peer communities. Working closely with partners and potential key implementers, the consultants are developing possible strategies and tools for neighborhood stabilization.

Please join us for the Interactive Community Open House on December 12th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Contois Auditorium, City Hall, during which the consultants will be sharing their findings. Also, you’ll also have a further opportunity to weigh in and provide feedback on potential tools and strategies for neighborhood stabilization. Your input is very important. You don’t have to stay for the entire four hours! The Interactive Community Open House is designed to allow you to come and go, based on your own schedule.

See you there!
