'Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.' John F. Kennedy
Join Citizens' Forum this Sunday for a preview and discussion on key issues that our legislatures will tackle in the 2018 session. We've invited a panel of sitting VT Reps and Senators from Lamoille and Washington Counties from Democratic, Republican and Progressive parties.
Citizens' Forum of Vermont is hosting a Legislative Preview on December 3rd, 4-6 pm.
Location: Thatcher Brook Primary School, 47 Stowe Street in Waterbury.
Our 3 key topics for discussion:
1) environmental target of 90% by 2050 (http://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2018/H.316)
2) paid family leave (http://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2018/H.196)
3) the impact of a livable wage on our local economies. (http://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2018/H.93)
We'll ask the panel, how we can be most effective in working with the State Legislature and other government officials.
Moderated by Hannah Marshall of the Stowe Reporter, our panel includes both Democrats, Republicans and Progressives: Rep. Dave Yacavone (Dem, Lamoille), Rep. Dan Noyes (Dem, Lamoille), Rep. Heidi Scheuermann (Republican, Lamoille), Rep Anne Donahue (Republican, Washington), Rep. Tom Stevens (Dem, Washington), Rep. Theresa Wood (Dem, Washington), Senator Ann Cummings (Dem, Washington), and Senator Anthony Pollina (Progressive, Washington).
Join us! This is a great way to get ready for active citizenship in 2018. Please spread the word in your community. No RSVP is required. Find Citizens’ Forum of Vermont on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1225501830878649/
