As part of its 250th Anniversary celebration, Guilford Community Church presents a concert at the Latchis Theater in Brattleboro:
By the People For the People - a Celebration of Song & Community
Saturday, November 11, 7:00 pm, Latchis Theater
Peter Amidon and Andy Davis are directing and Patty Meyer is accompanying the By the People For the People Choir. The three music leaders have put together a sixty-member Choir of the Community that has, as its core, the Guilford Community Church Choir, expanded by members of other area choirs & choruses. The selections of sacred & secular choral music will include songs from the Sacred Harp, African American spirituals, gospel, songs for social change, and a song each from Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, Doc Watson and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, with many of the pieces arranged and composed by Andy Davis and Peter Amidon.
Special guests include Nowell Sing We Clear (Tony Barrand, John Roberts, Fred Breunig, Andy Davis), American folk artist Sam Amidon, Brattleboro Union High School’s a cappella group Shoulder Narrows led by Rhys Glennon, singer Zara Bode, and saxophonist Ron Kelley.
