Skiing is coming back to Dutch Hill in Readsboro, VT.No, there won't be any ski lifts, but if you can climb it, you can ski it.Want to know more? Come to a public information meeting at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Nov 14, at the Readsboro Central School. Dutch Hill went out of business in the 1980’s and is now part of the Green Mountain National Forest.Last fall the Forest Service finalized their South of Route 9 management plan, which identified Dutch Hill as a site for non-motorized winter recreation. At the meeting, a local historian will give a brief history of Dutch Hill, and Forest Service reps will present information about recreation, timber harvest, and wildlife support plans for the Dutch Hill area.
DHASH (Dutch Hill Alliance of Skiers and Hikers), a non-profit group of volunteers, will describe how they are working with the Forest Service to clear some of the overgrown ski slopes for backcountry skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, and sledding.
