Many of us were pleased when Dollar General withdrew its appeal of the Bethel Development’s denial of their application to build a store in the Flood Plain across from the firehouse in Bethel. Now, the owner of the property, Michael Bilodeau, is proposing a small housing development on the same site. The concerns that so many Bethel residents raised about building a commercial business on that site also pertain to this latest proposal. It is a non-permitted use of property located within a flood zone.
The DRB will be taking this proposal up at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 7. The meeting will be held at the Town offices. I hope to see many of you continuing to express your concerns about devopment that negatively impacts the towns flood management policies.
