Many artists share their art and creative process in special ways with members of the community. What is the function of the art itself in this sharing process? How are the community members enriched by this sharing? And what gifts does the artist receive back from the experience?
“Healing with Art: Community, Part II” will be a panel discussion in which five artists from our area will address these questions and share samples of their artwork. The event will take place on October 18 at 6 p.m. at 118 Elliot Street in Brattleboro. Admission is free, and the public is warmly invited. The program is presented by the Arts Council of Windham County (ACWC) and is cosponsored by the Vermont Arts Council and the Brattleboro Retreat.
(Part I of “Healing with Art: Community” was offered this past June to an enthusiastic audience.)
This is an opportunity to meet artists who are committed to exploring the connections between their artistic expression and positive social change. Experience their art and hear about the ways that their art brings about positive transformation for the communities they share it with—and also hear about how this sharing comes back to enrich the artists themselves.
