Me and my band mates (Rauli Fernandez, Eduardo Fernandez and Karl Miller) will be playing Moogs Place in Morrisville this Saturday night. Rauli and I have been writing songs together for two years after he arrived here from San Juan PR. He is quite amazing on the keyboard and plays with spirit and nuance. This spring his childhood buddy Eduardo, a fantastic trombone player, move here as well. They played in ska bands in PR and of course he had to join the band. Karl Miller I met at Nutty Stephs, he had such a great jazz feel on the drums and an understated but powerful presence. I (Duffy) was in my first band in grade school, the Looney Tunes, we all had matching sunglasses and played no instruments, just made noises. From such an auspicious beginning i now write songs on scraps of paper incessantly and play mostly real instruments for mostly a captive audience of three children and a mustached dog. The band is called Araña, cause i love the ˜ so much and it means spider. And we rock. and we jazz and we put it all out there, cheers, come hear us!!
