Solar Eclipse Family STEM Day

Vermont will be experiencing a partial solar eclipse on Monday, August 21. In honor of the eclipse, the Poultney Public Library will be holding an Family STEM Eclipse viewing event.

Over the last several years, Library Director Rebecca Cook has been participating in a series of Vermont Early Literacy Initiative trainings and workshops. Though this training, we have received an assortment of books and materials to promote Early Literacy in reading, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to give away to childcare provider's and families with children under age 8.

At our special Eclipse event, which will be held on August 21 from 2-4pm, we will have:

-Eclipse viewing glasses for all participants

-STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Based Activity Centers. Some will be for children, some for adult and child teamwork.

-Early literacy information for the adults.

-Free books and materials for families with one or more children under age 8.

-Books and materials for daycare providers.

This program was made possible with support from Vermont Department of Libraries, Vermont Center for the Book, Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Adam N. Maslack Charitable Corporation.
