Our City Our Voices Event!

Past event
Jul 27, 2017, 5:30 to 7 PM

Please join us in celebrating our vibrant youth in Burlington in this free event including free ice cream, and renowned youth slam poet Shasparay (shasparay.com) who is the fifth ranked female slam poet in the world-2016.

Our City Our Voices event is a proud collaboration between CEDO AmeriCorps, Voices of Color, I Am Vermont Too, BCA and Young Writers Project to support the empowerment and self-expression of youth in Burlington.

Our City Our Voices event highlights the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) initiative that the City of Burlington adopted in 2016. MBK Burlington aims to align the community efforts to close the opportunity gaps that youth of color face, particularly young men of color. This upcoming year, the CEDO AmeriCorps program is proud to focus its goals with Burlington’s MBK initiative. Our aim is to provide collective responses to pressing community issues, keeping youth on track and safe, promoting healthy lifestyles, accessing employment and educational opportunities, as well as creating system changes with youth to be successful leaders.

This event offers a venue for youth of color to share their experiences through stories and poetry performances as well as find empowerment from other youth leaders.

Our City Our Voices event is free and for all ages!
