Hello Neighbors:
Our neighborhoods are full of Vermont Extension Master Gardeners (EMGs), who have completed a 13 week EMG course and have completed, or are in the process of completing, a volunteer internship where you put the knowledge you learn in the classroom to work on community projects. UVM Extension Master Gardener supports the University of Vermont by recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteer Extension Master Gardeners whose goal is to promote successful, safe, and environmentally prudent home horticulture practices through education and community activities.
For information on the EMG program, go to the following link:

Scholarships are Available for the Course:
The 2014 EMG course costs $395. The cost may make it difficult for some members of our community to take part in this extraordinary course. Therefore, EMGs in Washington, Orange and Lamoille counties are sponsoring 3 (that’s right – THREE) scholarships in the amount of $200 each for the upcoming course. That means the lucky scholarship recipients will only pay $195 for the course.
The scholarships will be awarded to those who feel the EMG course is important and who are willing to contribute to the goals of the EMGs promoting successful, safe and environmentally prudent home horticulture practices in our communities. The recipients of this scholarship will promote the EMG program by teaming up with an assigned mentor on an EMG project which fulfills the goals of the EMG program and provides the recipients with a better understanding of the importance of the EMG activities in our counties.
Interested applicants must fill out a Scholarship Application for the 2014 Extension Master Gardener Course along with the Memorandum of Understanding. Once filled out, the application documents are sent via email to our area Scholarship Coordinator, Cindy Griffith, following the information found in the application. Notification of the awards will be sent to all applicants shortly after. Award decisions are based on the responses from the applicants and not awarded one per county, since our EMG area covers 3 counties (Washington, Orange and Lamoille). We have 3 scholarships and the odds of being accepted are better than playing for a $200 lottery ticket! Email Cindy Griffith if you, or someone you knows, wants a scholarship application (cindy.griffith.vt@gmail.com) and please put EMG Scholarship in the subject line of the email
THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 1, 2013.
