Consider all the water bodies you can see from your car as you drive the roads of Vermont including, perhaps, your own driveway. If streams, rivers, and lakes are close enough for you to see from that road, they are close enough to be significantly impacted by what occurs on the road surface.
On Monday, June 19th, from 6 - 8:30 pm at Old Schoolhouse Common in Marshfield, the Friends of the Winooski River will host a workshop for private road and driveway owners. Participants will learn more about best management practices that reduce erosion, protect water quality, and save money on road repairs. If you are a property owner and believe your road segment or driveway has an impact on a nearby stream, you may be eligible for technical and cost share assistance. The event is co-hosted by the Cabot& Marshfield Conservation Commissions and the Plainfield Hazard Mitigation Committee with funding from the Lake Champlain Basin Program and the Headwaters Fund. An RSVP to info@winooskiriver.org is appreciated.
