Lecture: Chevron Doctrine Overruled

Jan 8, 2025, 7 PM

The League of Women Voters of Vermont, in partnership with Kellogg-Hubbard Library presents the third in its 2024-25 Lecture Series on Recent Supreme Court Decisions. This season we look at potential impacts of five important decisions issued since 2022.

The third program, on Wednesday, January 8 at 7:00 pm, presents Bridget Asay, an experienced trial and appellate lawyer, who served as the Solicitor General for Vermont, and Delcianna J. Winders, associate professor of law and Director of the Animal Law and Policy Institute at the Vermont Environmental Law Center.

They will discuss the Supreme Court decision Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raymond (2024), which overturned the longstanding legal deference to the expertise of federal administrative agencies, limiting their regulatory powers.

The League of Women Voters of Vermont Lecture Series, in its ninth season, is designed to bring outstanding speakers to discuss contemporary issues related to democracy and social justice.

This will be a virtual presentation. You may send questions in advance to league@lwvofvt.org, or through Chat during the event.
