Free Third Thursday Talk- Early Vermont Lighting History and Technology
Thursday, June 15 • 12:00 pm
Vermont History Museum, Montpelier, VT
Early American Lighting is a fascinating field of study for people interested in antiques, Early American decorating, and the history of science and technology. Vermont is uniquely situated to represent not only the well-known British Tradition New England lighting, but until 1763, it represented the bewildering array of French/Continental lamps and candleholders that would have appeared in the marine, military and mission cabin interiors in New France.
Join Prof. Frederick Wiseman as he shares slides, stories and historic examples of almost forgotten Vermont lighting systems from hogscraper candlesticks to Solar Lamps. Bring a bag lunch, drinks provided.
