Saturday, May 13, 10:30 to noon
Kellogg Hubbard Library

With the enactment of Act 148, recycling organic waste like vegetable scraps and lawn debris is finally law in Vermont. To save valuable landfill space, all waste haulers are now required to pick up and transport organic matter to certified composting facilities, but as a home gardener you may prefer to make your own "black gold" by practicing
composting in your backyard.

The art of successful composting is far more than throwing leaves in a pile to rot. Learn how to harness the amazing power of beneficial bacteria, fungi and other microbes to create optimum, nutrient packed, bioactive compost for your garden, with Master Composter and naturalist (and Middlesex resident!) Mike Ather, this Saturday, May 13, 10:30 am - 12 noon, at Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Mike Ather, owner of BackyardWilderness.com is a lifelong naturalist and gardener who has been composting for 42 years and presents frequent workshops throughout Vermont.
