The Jewish Community of Greater Stowe (JCOGS), in conjunction with the Greater Stowe Interfaith Coalition, will present a commemoration and exhibit dedicated to the legacy of the late Elie Wiesel and the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust.

On Sunday, April 23rd, on the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day, Rabbi David Fainsilber of JCOGS and local Stowe clergy will gather to honor the memory of victims, delivering readings and prayers to the community. Boston University’s Dr. Ingrid Anderson will deliver the featured address entitled “Beyond Night: The Life and Work of Elie Wiesel.”

Also opening Sunday evening will be JCOGS’ first Holocaust educational exhibit “From Generation to Generation …We Are Here!” highlighting a very special collection of photos, narratives and documents belonging to JCOGS members or their families. This exhibit is believed to be unique in the state of Vermont and JCOGS hopes that with future sponsorship it will be expanded and made into a permanent teaching tool for children, families and all of Vermont and its visitors.

Both the commemoration and exhibit are free and open to the public.

The exhibit will be on display through Thursday, May 18th.
Days and hours for visits are as follows:
Mondays & Thursdays 2-4pm, Fridays 5:30–6pm and after Sabbath services.
Special visits can be made by appointment. For more information please call 802-253-1800
JCOGS is located at 1189 Cape Cod Road in Stowe.
