The League of Women Voters of Central Vermont invites you to join us Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at our upcoming event, "Privacy: What Do We Know About It?." The event is in Room 135, the Hayes Room, at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier. James Duff Lyall, ACLU of Vermont Executive Director, will share his insights on this complex topic.

Technology has changed the way we interact with the world around us. We
have smart phones, connected health, smart homes, connected cars. We post
photos, videos, conversations online for anyone to see. When we surf the
internet, our online activities are tracked with every major website
visited. Companies collect our information to build marketing databases. The government amasses enormous amounts of our personal data from conversations to habits and purchases.

How do we manage our online identity? How do we balance the public's right
to know with our right to privacy? What are the trade-offs between
convenience, security, and privacy?

This presentation is a collaboration between the Kellogg-Hubbard Library
and the League of Women Voters of Central Vermont.
