Farm at VYCC Thank You Celebration Nov. 2

Past event
Nov 2, 2013, 10 AM to 2 PM

I am writing to tell you about an event we are hosting this weekend at the Monitor Barns in Richmond. As you may know, the Farm at VYCC donates tons (literally!) of food to food insecure Vermonters – this year, we expect to provide 20 tons of food to more than 4,000 people. The event is called SQUASH HUNGER, it’s tons of fun, and it’s a great way to thank the many people who supported the Farm at VYCC. It’s also a great way to get rid of your pumpkin after Halloween!

In fact, just what do you do with your pumpkin after Halloween? Does it rot into a mushy ball on your front stoop? If so, then you should bring it to the VYCC this Saturday.

From 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, there will be games and activities aplenty, including pumpkin bowling, potato sack races, face painting, pumpkin seed spitting contests, and, of course, the chance to throw pumpkins out of the barn at targets below.

A delicious farm-fresh lunch will be served ($6 for soup and salad, $8 includes a brat). And, there will be a pie contest judged by local celebrities – please bring a pie to enter (and to share!)

Suggested donation, $10 per adult, $20 per family

Thank you again for your help in making the Farm at VYCC, a “smashing” success.
