Building Bridges Screens March 5

Past event
Mar 5, 2017, 10 AM

Sunday Service at the Unitarian Universalist Church with Laurel Green and Steve Crofter.
How do we set up our lives to reach across divisions, allowing us to connect with the humanness in others and find it in ourselves? Through stories from their lives, Laurel and Steve will recount some of the opportunities they’ve found to build bridges. The March 3rd film "Which Way Home" will provide background for this service. Steve will lead the discussion after the film.
Steve is one of the founders of the Community Asylum Seekers Project (CASP) which provides basic needs and a supportive community for families in the process of seeking asylum in the U.S. Asylum seekers are people who have fled their homeland due to a fear of persecution but their requests for sanctuary have yet to be processed. CASP was recently organized by Steve Crofter and other community members. He and his partner Laurel Green are preparing CASP’s first host home by renovating a living space at their farm to which they will invite a family of asylum seekers.
Both the March 3rd film and the March 5th service will be held at the church at 21 Fairground Road, Springfield. Free and open to all.
